Metal Tooling/Oil Pastel Mixed Media-CR

Metal tooling—also known as repoussé—is an art technique where thin sheets of metal are shaped by gently pressing and embossing designs into the surface. Artists use tools to work from both the front and the back of the metal, raising certain areas while adding texture to others.

These artworks explore texture, pattern, and the way light moves across a raised metallic surface. The artists learned how simple marks can create depth and transform a flat piece of metal into something visually dynamic. They then created backgrounds on black paper with oil pastel.
